I look forward to an exciting and successful school year with your children. Third grade is an important year of growth, academically, socially, and emotionally. I am thrilled to partner with you in supporting your child’s learning journey.
Classroom Expectations
Our classroom is built on a foundation of respect, responsibility, and kindness. Students are expected to:
Treat classmates, staff, and themselves with respect
Take responsibility for their work and behavior
Come to class prepared and ready to learn
Show kindness, effort, and perseverance
We will spend time practicing these expectations so that all students feel safe, supported, and confident in our learning environment.
Academic Focus for the Year
Third grade introduces many new skills and builds strong foundations across subjects:
Reading: Developing comprehension skills, reading fluency, vocabulary, and discussing texts in thoughtful ways
Writing: Crafting narrative, opinion, and informational writing with clear structure, details, and editing skills
Mathematics: Mastery of multiplication and division, introduction to fractions, problem-solving strategies, and explaining mathematical thinking
Science: Hands-on exploration of scientific concepts through observation, investigation, and discussion
Social Studies: Learning about communities, geography, and history while building an understanding of civic responsibility
Additional Learning Experiences
Throughout the year, students will also participate in:
Art, music, physical education, and the library
Collaborative projects and class discussions
Lessons focused on organization, independence, and positive learning habits
Communication and collaboration between home and school are essential, and I encourage you to reach out with questions or concerns at any time. I look forward to getting to know your family and working together to make this a positive and productive year. Thank you for your continued support. I am excited for a wonderful year ahead at Egremont School!
